SOUND SYSTEMS
Sound Systems
Sound systems present a very particular set of challenges. A correctly designed and installed church PA system will bring clear, intelligible sound reinforcement to a church. MCN Sound & Security have over 30 years’ experience of installing church sound systems across the UK.
Reverberation & feedback are very prominent issues when installing church sound systems (particularly in older churches) and the balance between what is aesthetically pleasing and acoustically suitable must be carefully explored in order to perform well and please both the church committee and members of the congregation.
Microphones
Fixed or wireless, Omni directional or hyper cardioid, hand held or lapel clip. All microphone types have their place in church environments and it is our job to guide you through the process of choosing correct microphones.
Speakers
From column speakers to satellite speaker systems we can recommend suitable speakers which will blend into the churches environment. Reverberation is an ever present problem in churches with large amounts of highly reflective surfaces. Consequently, the correct type and positioning of speakers is vital in achieving clear voice reproduction throughout. It is also important to consider all the possible uses for the sound system before settling on the right type, especially when the space to to be used in different layout and configurations.
Amplifiers & control kit
After site survey has highlighted the project requirements then the correct amplifier can be chosen and from there the need for EQ, limiters, feedback control units & salve amplifiers can be addressed. Running speakers over a 100V speaker line or low impedance is a decision that will dictate the choice of amplifier, in addition knowing the total number of inputs into the system will influence the choice of mixer, be it mixing desk or mixer amplifier. Our sales team and engineers can guide you through these decisions.
Induction Loop Systems
An induction loop system is an audio amplifying system that enables hearing aid users to listen to conversations, performances or the television without the excessive background noise that is produced from the hearing aid’s inbuilt microphone when they increase the volume. The sound source, for example a microphone on a desk, is plugged into a loop amplifier which feeds a loop cable fixed around the perimeter of the room.
The audio signal is transmitted from the loop cable and picked up by the coil housed within the hearing aid. The hearing aid user simply switches their hearing aid to the T position to hear clearly. Please note, only hearing aids with a T switch will pick up the signal from a induction loop system.
Paging Systems
Multi zone paging system allows paging up to 12 zones, utilizing asingle channel amplifier by activating the speaker line selector from the desktop remote microphone
Italian Electronic Church Bell System
We also install Electronic Church Bell systems. These units can store up to 1,000 melodies and have approximately 500 hymns built in.
These bell systems can be programmed to automatically play at Mass times as well as the Evangelist at 12pm and 6pm.
You can also pre-program hot keys to play Funeral and wedding tones.
If you want to play one of the 500 hymns built in, you simply look in the booklet and enter the code for the desired hymn and press ok.
These electronic bell systems are then connected to some Tannoy speakers, mounted in your church Tower.
